Description:
The fish has a body depth ranging from 3.1 to 3.7 times in standard length (SL). The dorsal profile of the head is slightly convex, and the anterior tip of the head forms an acute angle. The jaws are prominent, although the mouth is small. There are two prominent canines anteriorly in each jaw, and there is no enlarged tooth at the rear of the upper jaw. The fish has 15 pectoral fin rays, and the lateral line is complete, with 25 pored scales.In terms of coloration, the fish exhibits bright green to blue hues, with a vertical red band on each scale and several mostly horizontal, prominent red or purple lines on the head. The caudal fin is green to blue basally, extending along the upper and lower edges with a pink stripe directed toward each corner. The midposterior portion of the fin is clear to yellow. The pectoral fins are blue with a prominent pink stripe from the base to the tip just below the upper edge.
