Description:
The fish has dorsal fin elements numbering IX,10; anal fin elements III,9; and 15 pectoral fin rays. The longitudinal scale series consists of 23 scales, with lateral line scales totaling 20+6. There is 1½ scales above the lateral line and 6 below it. The median predorsal scales number 4, as do the median prepelvic scales, while the circumpeduncular scales amount to 12. The dental plates lack teeth on the sides, with the upper dental plate three-fourths covered by the lip and the lower plate three-fourths exposed. The caudal fin of adults is truncate with produced lobes.The coloration of the fish features an orange anterior part of the body with a submarginal green band on each scale, gradually broadening posteriorly. The snout is reddish-green with a blue-green margin on the upper lip, bordered below by a narrow orange margin extending to the eye.
