The posterior half of the eye features a moderately developed adipose eyelid. The upper jaw is highly protractile with a concave upper end and a concave as well as extended lower end. The edge of the gill chamber is smooth without papillae, and there are no finlets. It is metallic blue above and silvery white below. It displays a broad yellow stripe extending from the upper margin of the eye to the caudal peduncle. The dorsal, anal and caudal fins exhibit shades ranging from pale to dusky yellow, while the pelvic fins are white.
