Both upper and lower jaws possess an outer row of conical teeth, with a few of the anteriormost teeth enlarged into canines. Additionally, there is an inner band of villiform teeth. The vomer and palatines are equipped with teeth, arranged in a chevron-shaped patch on the vomer. There are no teeth on the tongue. The anal fin consists of 3 spines and 8 soft rays, and the bases of the dorsal and anal fins lack scales. The caudal fin is forked. There are 48-50 lateral line scales, and the 1st gill arch has 23–26 gill rakers. Both the body and fins have a rosy color. The top of the head exhibits brownish-yellow longitudinal vermiculations and spots while the dorsal fin features wavy yellow lines.
