This species is characterized by a single postmaxillary process, featuring small conical teeth in the jaws, vomer, and palatines. The anal fin displays 3 spines and 12 rays. The supratemporal bands of scales are often interrupted at the dorsal midline, with a scaleless zone forming a V-shape anteriorly at the midline, intruding between the supratemporal bands of scales.In terms of coloration, the upper body appears bluish, while the lower body is white to pale bluish, featuring a single yellow stripe bordered above and below by a white or light blue stripe. The caudal fin lobes exhibit a black median streak, and the axil of the pectoral fins has a black triangular patch.
