Colour orangish to reddish copper, the scales rimmed with silvery white, very narrowly dorsally, broader on ventral half of body, resulting in a striped pattern; median fins orangish red, dorsal indistinctly bordered by blackish, most evident at the tip; posterior margin of caudal fin slightly and narrowly blackish; margin of anal fin usually slightly blackish anteriorly; base of pectoral fin a little darker than adjacent chest, but not as a distinct spot. Body very deep origin of dorsal fin, strongly tapering to narrow caudal peduncle. Base of anal fin very long. Lateral-line scales. Caudal fin forked.
