The colony can take on a massive, submassive or encrusting form. Corallites exhibit pronounced meandroid patterns with either long valleys or sub-meandroid patterns with shorter valleys containing 1 to 3 centers. Most corallites feature deep, steep-sided valleys and well-defined centers. Septa are regularly spaced, equal and even with the presence of paliform lobes and fine dentations along the margins. A large and conspicuous columella is present. The thickness of the thecae varies significantly and skeletal structures show diversity across environments. Colors are variable, predominantly a uniformly dull brown or green with occasional contrasting colors on walls and valley floors.
