Classification:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Malacostraca
Order: Decapoda
Family: Xanthidae
Description:
This species usually has a light-colored background, white or light yellow, with characteristic dark stripes or hands that can be anything from dark purple to brown. This patterning facilitates concealment across stony and coral substrates. Usually oval, broad, and smooth, the carapace has a slightly convex surface. With an average width of 3 to 5 cm, the carapace is quite tony. Тypicаllу, brownish or reddish , the carapace has noticeable white or pastel stripes running across particularly around the sides and margins. Strong and rather asymmetrical, the chelipeds (claws) frequently have one larger than the other. The tips of the claws may be white of a lighter hue, but they are typically the same color as the carapace and frequently have the same handed pattern. The comparatively long and narrow walking legs are ideal for moving on reefs. Frequently, the legs have stripes or bunds that alternate between lighter and darker hues. It has well-developed eyes on short stalks that let it see well in the intricate coral reef settings it lives in. The abdomen is relatively narrow and flexible, allowing the crab to tuck itself into crevices or under rocks for protection from predators. The sternum is generally smooth, and its shape can help differentiate L. cinctimamus from other similar crab species
