Description:
The body is strongly oval and the caudal fin is distinct from the dorsal and anal fins. Pectoral fins are absent and the snout forms a noticeable hook. Mouth is inferior. Scales do not extend to the bases of the dorsal and anal fins. The body and fins on the right side are very dark olive with blackish flecks arranged in five cross series. The blind side is uniformly clouded with blue-black and the dorsal and anal fins typically exhibit blackish punctuations on the membranes.
