There are scutes present on the caudal peduncle. Body is elongated and slender. There is a distinct finlet at the end of both the soft dorsal and anal fins. The straight part of the lateral line comprises 4–12 scales. The end of the upper jaw is slightly concave. Caudal fin displays a vibrant red color. The overall coloration is metallic blue to greenish above and silvery below, with a small black blotch on the upper edge of the operculum. Additionally, the caudal fin is bright red and the tips of the soft dorsal-fin rays are reddish.
