Description:
Body is of moderate size and tapers posteriorly. Head is blunt with a short snout and both lips are thick. A well-developed mental frenum is present on the chin and the interorbital region is narrow with a sensory pore. Two dorsal fins are closely spaced and four upper pectoral fin rays lack membrane. Pelvic disk and caudal fin have rounded shapes. The head, including the cheek and operculum lacks scales. Predorsal scales are cycloid with the anterior tip extending beyond the posterior margin of the preopercle. Body is covered in ctenoid scales and there are well-developed sensory pores on the head. The overall coloration of the head and body is pale gray, marked with irregular darkish brown blotches and whitish spots. Two moderately dark blotches are present on the base of the dorsal fin—one below the first and the other below the posterior part of the second dorsal fin.
