Description:
It resembles Tylosurus acus, with the distinction of a straight upper jaw. Teeth in juveniles point anteriorly. The dorsal fin typically has 21–24 rays (usually 22 or 23) and the anal fin has 19–22 rays (usually 21 or 22). Both gonads are present. The coloration consists of dark bluish green on the upper part and silvery below, featuring a dark blue stripe along the sides. Juveniles display an elevated black lobe in the posterior part of the dorsal fin which diminishes with growth.
