Description:
Colonies create mounds measuring up to 50 cm in diameter which potentially dominating extensive areas of the reef. These colonies consist of slender tubes, also known as “organ pipes” with a diameter of 0.2 cm and joined together by horizontal plates spaced several centimeters apart. While alive, the corals exhibit white polyps that can envelop the corallum, and the skeleton displays a deep red hue.
