Description:
The belly exhibits 21–24 scutes from the isthmus to the anus. Typically, there are 17–19 lower gill rakers. The first supra-maxilla is absent and the pseudobranch is concealed under the skin. Regarding coloration, the dorsum is dark, while the flanks appear silvery with a yellowish tint. There is a dark blotch behind the upper part of the gill opening, occasionally connected to a dark saddle on the nape. The caudal fin has a yellowish base.
