Description:
D1 15; D2 absent; P113; P27; A 22. Pale cream when scales lost; bright silvery stripe on flanks; a double line of small pigment spots on back behind dorsal fin. Body fusiform, somewhat compressed; belly rounded, with 6-8 needle-like scutes between pectoral and pelvic fins, and a distinctive spine on pelvic scute between fin bases. Snout projecting, bluntly pointed; maxilla tip pointed.
