Description:
The fish has a compressed and fairly slender body, with a depth measuring 2.2–2.6 times the standard length. The dorsal profile of the head is nearly a straight line. In juveniles, the caudal fin is emarginate, gradually changing to deeply forked in large individuals. In life, the coloration is olive to bronzy yellowish, with widely scattered bluish white spots on the body.
