Description:
The total number of dorsal spines ranges from 15 to 17 while the total dorsal soft rays range from 19 to 21. There are 19 to 22 anal soft rays and the vertebrae count is between 45 and 46. The inter pelvic process is small and bifid, and the body is covered with small scales. The lateral line lacks auxiliary branches anteriorly and gradually curves down toward the caudal peduncle. The intestine exhibits 2 folds and 3 limbs. In juveniles, spots are present but they develop an adult pattern of interrupted lines by the time they reach 40 cm.
