Description:
The body has a distinctly ovoid shape. The teeth in the upper jaw are small and closely set laterally, enlarging towards the front. In contrast, the teeth in the lower jaw are stronger and more widely spaced than those in the upper jaw. Both sides of the body have ctenoid scales. Gill rakers are moderately long, numbering between 8 and 10 on the lower limb of the 1st gill arch. Body color is brownish, featuring a small dark blotch at the junction of the straight and curved parts of the lateral line.
