Description:
The fish has a body depth of 2.5–2.8 in SL, uniserial teeth in the jaws, and a hind margin of the preopercle and subopercle that is serrate. The upper and lower edges of the caudal fin base lack projecting spiniform procurrent rays. The pectoral fins have 17–18 rays, and there are 26–28 gill rakers on the 1st gill arch. Its coloration consists of a pale grey to bluish dorsal side, transitioning to whitish on the ventral side. There is a bluish-black spot on the upper base of the pectoral fins, and the dorsal, anal, and caudal fins are yellowish.
