In its adult stage, this species is characterized by a black spot on the upper tail base, which features a blue spot in that region. Additionally, the adult exhibits an orange color on the tail. The juvenile form of this species displays bright blue lines, a prominent ocellus on the rear dorsal fin, and a blue margin surrounding the black spot at the tail base.
