Description:
The shell is large, thin, fragile, and triangular in shape. The sculpture of the shell can vary. The dorsal margin of the shell is concave, the posterior margin is squared off, and the ventral margin is concave. The internal nacreous layer is strong and divided into two almost equal lobes by a median radial groove. The posterior adductor scar often extends onto the ventral lobe of the nacreous area.
