Description:
Dorsal spines: 11 – 15; Dorsal soft rays: 10-13; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 8 – 10. The anterior nostrils are conical and tubular, while the posterior nostrils are small and slit-like. The snout is deep and the mouth is positioned horizontally. The eyes are protruding. Predorsal scales extend forward to the level of the hind margin of the eye. There are 86-107 scales in the longitudinal series. The second dorsal fin has 1 spine and 10-13 soft rays, with two narrow bluish-white longitudinal bands on its upper half. The anal fin appears pale or white, occasionally with slight mottling of fine, dark spots. Pectoral fins are dark on the outer surface, featuring pale distal margins, and lighter on the inner (medial) surface, especially ventrally. Pelvic fins are whitish on the ventral surface but darker on the dorsal surface, with pale margins. The caudal fin is dark.
