Description:
The fish has a moderately deep body, with a depth of 2.5–2.8 times the standard length. There are 44–48 lateral line scales to the base of the caudal fin. The pectoral fins’ tips reach a level halfway along the base of the anal fin. The anal fin has 5–6 spines and 12–14 soft rays, with its base longer than the base of the soft portion of the dorsal fin. The caudal fin is deeply forked with pointed lobes. The coloration is silvery, with a mirror-like stripe from the snout to the caudal peduncle. The fins are dusky yellow, and in market specimens, the fish may appear pale pink or grey.
