Description:
The fish exhibits a dorsal fin configuration of X-XI, I, 25-28; anal fin II, 6-8; pectoral fin I, 16-18; and pelvic fin I, 5. With an elongated and compressed body featuring a slightly curved dorsal and ventral profile, the bluntly pointed head carries a large, terminal, and oblique mouth, while the snout is not protruded. Teeth in both jaws are differentiated, with the upper jaw possessing an outer row of enlarged canine teeth. The swim bladder, in the Pennahia form, is carrot-shaped with numerous appendages. The body displays a dual-tone coloration, purplish-brown on the upper half and silverly-white on the lower half, with distinct fin colors.
