Pelocoetes exul has a worm-like appearance with a diminished basal disc; the body is blunt and tapers, lacking a physa. The column is elongated. The tentacles are branched and arranged in a hexameral pattern (6+6+12+24+48), with the last cycle being complete. There is a lobe on the oral disc. Nematocysts are present in longitudinal rows, and cinclides are found on the column.
