Description:
The anal fin has 3 spines and 9–11 soft rays, with the 2nd anal spine subequal to the 3rd and shorter than the longest anal rays. The body is silvery grey dorsally and silvery white ventrally, with 4–6 narrow, dark brown stripes on the body. The spiny part of the dorsal fin and the area behind the gill opening have blotches, and the mouth and gill cavity appear red in life.
