Description:
D1 X+I/10; D2 absent; P1 13; P2 I/5; A III/8. Body color silvery with 3 to 4 curved dark brown stripes; spinous dorsal fin with black blotch between 3rd and 6th spine; anterior and posterior tips of dorsal black; caudal fin with three horizontal stripes. Body slightly compressed; jaws with strong conical teeth in outer row; spinous part of dorsal fin strongly arched and deeply notched; 3 to 5 large spines at angle of pre-operculum; lower spine very long.
