Description:
Snout is rounded and the mouth is subterminal. Fine, sharp teeth are arranged in three patches on each side of the palate that typically forming a large triangle with inner patches fusing in older fish. Adipose fin is short-based and located posteriorly, while the caudal fin lobes are slender and tapered. The body is reddish or bluish-brown, featuring bronze iridescence over the back and sides. The adipose fin is dark brown.
