Description:
There are two pairs of tooth patches located at the front of the lower jaw outside the mouth. Lateral line consists of 27–29 scales (with a modal value of 28). No small scales are present in the pectoral fin axil. The 1st gill arch has 32–38 gill rakers. The body is light red. The opercular margin is black reaching to or below the level of the lower edge of the eye. The median fins are red with white leading edges and the elevated portions of the soft dorsal, anal and caudal fin lobes are tipped with black.
