Description:
The body is elongated, cylindrical in the front and compressed towards the tail. Gill openings nearly meet at the ventral midline of the body. The large vomerine teeth are compressed and “blade-like,” which features 1–2 basal cusps. The principal teeth in the lower jaw are triangular and the snout is long. Posterior nostrils are only slightly closer to the eye than the anterior nostrils. Dorsal fin has 47–59 rays and there are 33–39 lateral line pores before the level of the anus. In terms of color, it is light greyish-brown with an olive bronze shade above, and lighter below, while the dorsal and anal fins have narrow black edges.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Benthic on soft bottoms in deeper waters.
