Description:
Body is moderately robust. The head is deeper than it is wide and flattened dorsally. Snout is short and blunt and the mouth is terminal with a slender and weakly curved down posteriorly maxilla. Both fins are falcate and moderately scaled. The first pectoral fin possesses 13–14 long, falcate spines. Pectoral axillary scale is distinct and long. The caudal fin is forked and the scales are ctenoid with a membranous, digitated hind margin. Dorsal side ranges from greenish-grey to bluish-brown while the abdomen appears silver. The caudal and second dorsal fins feature black margins and the pectoral fin is bluish-yellow with a dark blue spot at its base. The anal and pelvic fins are yellowish-white and there is a golden tinge on the operculum.
