Description:
The body is elongated and compressed, gradually narrowing from the head to the caudal region. Mouth is large and the snout is pointed. The lower jaw protrudes slightly and there is a concave interorbital space. There are flexible canines on the front and lateral aspects of the jaws. The dorsal fin is positioned before the midpoint between the posterior end of the pelvic fin base and the origin of the anal fin. Both the dorsal and pelvic fins are small while the anal fin base is long and the caudal fin is forked. The adipose fin is small and the body is transparent. The papilla is black and postorbital. The abdominal regions appear silvery and the abdominal cavity is black. The caudal peduncle is brown, the scaled area is silvery and there is a black blotch at the origin of the anal fin.
