Description:
Dorsal fin has 7 spines and 9 soft rays, anal fin has 2 spines and 8 soft rays. There are 16-17 rays in the pectoral fin. The body is silver-grey without vertical bands with a faintly serrated preopercular ridge. There is a black spot on the preopercular margin. The upper half of the first dorsal fin is black. The caudal fin is rounded.
