Description:
Jaws are of equal length or the lower jaw slightly protrudes. There are no spines on the opercle or subopercle with a canine tooth at the front of each upper jaw bone. There is a single median basibranchial tooth patch and 8 branchiostegal rays. The lateral line has small scales overlaying an inner series of larger scales that bear neuromasts. There are 26 pectoral fin rays. In terms of color, the overall color is a greyish-brown with the upper parts of the head and body being darker. The abdomen and underside of the head are whitish and the median and pectoral fins are blackish.
