Colonies take on an encrusting form, creating thin and uneven layers. The corallites are shallow, polygonal and characterized by thin walls, exhibiting considerable variation in size. Septa show irregular fusion but do not create deltas. Columellae are notably small. Polyps are short and uniform with exceptionally large oral cones and short, thin tentacles. Polyps retract swiftly in response to disturbance. The coloration is marked by conspicuous white oral cones.
