Description:
The fish has an oval and somewhat compressed body, with a depth of 2.2–3.5 in SL. The dorsal and ventral profiles are equally convex, and the mouth points forward when protracted. The head and breast are scaleless, and there are distinct caniniform teeth in both jaws. The anterodorsal scaled area reaches to the tip of the posterior branch (PB) of the supratemporal canal (ST). In terms of coloration, the fish is silvery with a greyish back and dark yellow irregular marks extending to below the lateral line. The soft parts of the dorsal, pectoral, and pelvic fins are colorless, while the anterior part of the anal fin is yellow. The underside of pectoral fin bases and snout feature black dots, and the spiny dorsal fin is black-edged.
