Description:
The body is elongated, cylindrical in the anterior portion and compressed towards the tail. Gill openings nearly converge at the ventral midline of the body. The vomerine teeth are needle-like, lacking basal cusps. Pectoral fins are comparatively small. The dorsal fin has 57–68 rays and there are 35–40 lateral line pores before the level of the anus with a vertebral count ranging from 132 to 145. The coloration consists of a head and body in shades of yellow with a bronze hue, while the underside is white. Both the dorsal and anal fins exhibit narrow black edges.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Benthic, on soft bottoms, in estuaries, lagoons and shallow coastal waters down to 100 m
