Description:
This species is identified by dorsal rays XIII, 13-14; anal rays II, 13-14; pectoral rays 17; lateral-line scales 16-18; and a body depth 1.7-1.9 times the standard length. It is characterized by distinctive white and curled-back lips, especially in large individuals. Juveniles display a dull orange coloration, while adults exhibit a dark brown hue.
