Description:
A single postmaxillary process is present, and the fish has small conical teeth in the jaws, vomer, and palatines. The anal fin consists of 3 spines and 12 rays, occasionally 11. The supratemporal band of scales is interrupted at the dorsal midline by a narrow, scaleless zone. In terms of coloration, the upper third of the body and head, including the interorbital region, and the caudal fin are bright yellow. The middle third appears blue, while the lower third is white. The axil and upper base of the pectoral fins are black, and the pectoral, pelvic, and anal fins are white. The dorsal fin is yellow.
