Dorsal fin rays range from 67 to 73 and anal fin rays from 47 to 51. The dorsal, anal, and pelvic rays are all unbranched. There are 76-84 lateral line scales. The lateral line on the ocular side of the body extends well above the upper eye but curves downward on the head toward the upper eye. Eye is small and the interorbital space is very narrow. The tubular anterior nostril is very short and does not reach the edge of the lower orbit. Slender cirri are present on the front of the snout, along the ventral side of the head and on the edge of the operculum on the blind side. However, there are no cirri along the edge of the membranous ridge of the dorsal and anal rays. The caudal peduncle is present but extremely short.
