Description:
The fish has an elongate, strongly compressed body with a dorsal fin containing 2 spines and 43–50 rays. The anal fin has 46–52 rays, and the snout profile is prominently concave. The spinous pelvic spine is rudimentary or absent. In terms of coloration, the ground color ranges from olive brown to grey, adorned with blue lines and dark spots. Juveniles may exhibit a yellowish-brown color with dark spots.
