Coloration is consistently a deep tan with pale tips on the branches. Colonies consist of substantial, gradually tapering, horizontally positioned branches. The axial corallites have a domed shape with tiny apertures, and all the corallites have small openings. Radial corallites are found solely on the upper surfaces of the branches, while the lower surfaces are smooth. The coenosteum, the skeletal structure, is smooth and compact, made up of fine spinules without complex tips.
