Processes on the valves are thin but sturdy, each ending with a robust claw.The cell wall is more heavily siliceous and exhibits areolated-punctated characteristics. The areolae are arranged radially, and on the mantle surface, they are pervalvar. These rows of areolae have a distinct eccentric arrangement, where the center of the areolation does not coincide with the center of the valve but is located on one of the mantle surfaces.
