Description:
hese cells are long and narrow, with a large triangular footpole at one end and a needle-like headpole at the other. The footpole is rounded or elliptical in valve view and contains one or two chloroplasts. The cells are connected into long spiralling chains by the valve face of the expanded footpole. This means that the cells are usually seen in girdle view.
