The crab is dark green or greenish black in color. The circular shell is brownish. The crab can be identified by its shorter spines on the side of the body. The tail is circular in cross-section near where it joins the body. It does not have a groove on the underside or spines on the upper side. Horseshoe crab is actually a species under Phylum Arthropoda but it does not belong to Subphylum Crustacea.
