Description:
The shell is large, thin, and fragile. It is moderately inflated and has a triangularly wedge-shaped outline. The sculpture of the shell is highly variable, with radial ribs that can be smooth or densely set with short open spines. The interior nacreous layer is thin and undivided, and it occupies the anterior two-thirds of the valves. The posterior adductor scar is larger, semicircular, and completely enclosed within the nacreous area. The anterior adductor scar is smaller and located at the tip of the nacreous area.
