Description:
The plants are upright and feature smooth, coriaceous, flat blades with rounded tips. Beyond the edges of the blade are secondary holdfasts. A noticeably flattened discoid holdfast forms the base of the 8 cm tall, deep red to brownish red thallus. The thallus has branches that are 4–8 mm broad and emerge from the edges of the blades. The lateral branches are slightly thinner at the insertion point and curve toward the apex. It has a deep purple or crimson hue.
