Cortex and medulla make up the network; the cortex has small, quadrate, pigmented cells that have a diameter of 8–10?m, while the medulla is made up of multiple layers of massive, colorless, parenchymatous cells that have a diameter of 70–30?m. Colorless hairs are arranged in shallow depressions on the surface of thalli. The color is yellow-brown.
