The dorsal fin of this species possesses VII or VIII slender spines and 10 to 12 rays. The third or fourth spine is the longest, with its length contained 3.2 to 4.2 times in the head length, and the longest soft ray is contained 2.2 to 2.7 times in the head length. The base of the spinous part of the dorsal fin is subequal to that of the soft-rayed part. The anal fin has III slender spines and 8 rays, with the first 1 or 2 spines embedded and difficult to see in large fish. Pectoral-fin rays range from 15 to 17, and the pectoral fins are approximately equal in length to the pelvic fins. The pectoral-fin length is contained 1.9 to 2.2 times in the head length. The caudal fin is emarginate, and the caudal concavity is contained 5 to 12 times in the head length.
