Description:
They resemble Sphyraena putnamae, but the last ray of the 2nd dorsal fin is not elongated compared to the penultimate ray. The lower jaw lacks a pointed fleshy tip. There are 127–131 pored lateral line scales. The body exhibits 18–22 vertical or slightly curved dark crossbars that extend well below the lateral line. These crossbars are slightly wider than the interspaces.
